RPCK Salutes Game Changer Patience Marime-Ball

March 25, 2022

RPCK is excited to launch our new RPCK Game Changers Series celebrating the work of inspiring leaders and innovators that are leading the way when it comes to using the power of multiple bottom-line investing to change the course of some of our biggest environmental and social challenges.

To kick-off our series, RPCK is celebrating the work of Game Changer, Patience Marime-Ball, Founder and CEO of Women of the World Endowment (WoWE).

Patience is determined to change the way Wall Street thinks about investing in and through women – where women are at the center of investing as agents and actors, not just as beneficiaries.

When we think about missing opportunities to generate alpha, there is perhaps no other investment area that is as routinely overlooked as investing in and through women. WoWE is taking advantage of this investment opportunity and showing others how to as well.

In 2018 Patience founded WoWE, a first of its kind, 100% mission aligned investment nonprofit focused on centralizing women as economic, environmental, and social changemakers while delivering market-rate, risk adjusted returns and impact at scale. Most recently, she co-authored The XX Edge: Unlocking Higher Returns and Lower Risk (available in June) that manifests WoWE’s thesis with data, facts, and case stories demonstrating that when more women are involved in financial decision-making across all entities, money is managed more efficiently and effectively, investments are more profitable, and companies and governments make better decisions that benefit individual investors, communities, and economies.

We salute Patience’s game changing and inspiring work!

Her Game Changing Idea:

Create proof points for the efficacy of gender intersectional investing that affects meaningful financial systems change.

The Endowment starts with FINANCIAL CAPITAL. WoWE invests in all asset classes, from debt to equity, to generate profits with a gender intersectional investment strategy. Their public markets portfolio has returned northwards of 35% since its inception in April 2020. They take the income from their investments and reinvest in building STRATEGIC INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL that furthers the field of gender intersectional investing. Lastly, income from their investments is GRANT INVESTED into organizations focused on supporting women changemakers driving systemic change. With this model, they are creating a VIRTUOUS CYCLE of financial and strategic intellectual capital that spans the entire investment spectrum and drives deep impact.  You can learn more on how the organization is driving results and impact here.

The evidence is clear – gender-inclusive teams outperform across most metrics, including profitability, lasting innovation, and the development of healthier economies. And most importantly, investors and organizations are taking a financial risk by not implementing a gender-inclusive investment strategy. For example:

  • Gender-inclusive teams are 21% more likely to see outperformance in profitability relative to peers.
  • New companies with a female founder performed 63% better than those with all-male teams over an observed 10-year period.

Why Her Work Matters:

WoWE is flipping the field of gender intersectional investing and proposing a new investment paradigm.  They are currently on a path to raise $5 billion by 2030 by proving the investment potential of investing in and through women Changemakers. Learn more about WoWE and Patience here: https://wowendowment.org/ or pre-order The XX Edge on Amazon. 100 percent of the book sales proceeds from the book benefit Women of the World Endowment and Tara Health Foundation.
