RPCK HELPS FORM FIRST-EVER SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD                                           INVESTMENT HOLDING COMPANY

RPCK continues to work at the forefront of Impact Investing, recently helping Zoma Capital and Encourage Capital partner to launch the first-ever sustainable seafood investment holding company, Pescador Holdings. The formation of Pescador also marks the first time that a research-based, mission-aligned investment company has been designed from the ground up to capitalize on the demand for more sustainable seafood.

According to Chintan Panchal, Founding Partner at RPCK, “Our mission at RPCK is to achieve lasting impact worldwide through supporting visionary investors, and our active involvement in the formation of Pescador is a perfect way to support it. This exciting new company has an opportunity to produce game-changing results in sustainable seafood for the long term.”

The formal announcement of Pescador’s launch was made at the February 15th Economist Impact Investing Summit, at Time Warner Center in New York City. The event brought together more than 200 leading financiers, institutional investors, policymakers, academics, impact investors and philanthropies to analyze the core opportunities and obstacles to the mainstreaming of impact investment. It also included a formal announcement that Pescador would start with an initial $10 million commitment from Zoma Capital, the family investment office of Ben and Lucy Ana Walton.

As Pescador’s first commitment, the company made a significant investment in Geomar, a leading Chilean “shore to shelf” sustainable seafood company with products sold in major markets throughout the world. According to Javier Denoso, CEO of Geomar, the investment will increase regional employment in Chile, bolster the volume and quality of sustainable seafood, and strengthen distribution. RPCK sees the formation of Pescador as only the tipping point for many great things to come from its impact practice. “We’re fortunate to work on highly innovative matters for clients who are true visionaries,” said Panchal. “In doing this work we are able to work towards our firm’s mission of helping to achieve lasting positive impact worldwide.”
